Suddenly, right on schedule, there are several newly published books adressing the emerging trend of decorating with antiques. Antiques are the next-big-thing! As part of the pendulum swing away from Minimalist interiors, antiques are enjoying a renaissance. This book shows cool rooms, with limited colour palette, and tentative essays into tablescapes or what, twenty years ago, we would have called clutter. An excellent book for those who are not ready to embrace the frenzied baroque splendours of high fashion, it demonstrates how the sculptural forms of antique furniture and decorations can be added to a minimalist environment without too much aesthetic or financial shock. Admitedly the limited white to beige colour palette looks terribly dated at present, but quite possibly the current passion for vibrant colour and pattern will cool off, encouraging a wider range of expression.
